INTERNAL STYLES
EXTERNAL STYLES of wushu emphasize power & agility.
Training concentrates on increasing flexibility, strength, speed & cardiovascular endurance. The curriculum covers empty hand forms, self-defense applications, sparring & chin na (joint locking) techniques.
NORTHERN STYLES are characterized by long, extended strikes & kicks, low stances & acrobatic jumps to take advantage of large open spaces.
SOUTHERN STYLES focus more on dynamic hand techniques used for close range combat.
WEAPONS taught include straight sword, broad sword, staff, spear, whip chain and more.
SHUAI CHIAO is the oldest documented fighting system of China, going back 2000 years. It is a grappling style that emphasizes locking & throwing techniques.
WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE is a special short-term seminar.. Participants learn commonsense, quick-reaction self-defense techniques, and awareness of possible threatening situations.
Women of all ages and fitness levels are welcome. No previous
martial arts training is required.
INTERNAL STYLES of wushu develop the internal strength or "qi" through practice emphasizing a calm mind and relaxed body position.
TAI CHI CHUAN focues on soft, continuous, circular movements, practiced in a meditative manner. Appreciated for it's artistic and therapeutic values, tai chi chaun is also a highly sophisticated system of self-defense.
Classes consist of stretching and breathing exercises, tai chi movements, and pushing hands training - a two-person exercise designed to enhace sensitivity and reaction skills.
The curriculum includes 24-movement; the 42-step and sword compulsories; 66-combined; Sun style; tai chi weapons including straight sword, broad sword and spear; and pushing hands.
PA KUA CHANG and HSING YI CHUAN are also taught as part of the curriculum.
