Rick Wong is the director of the
Chinese Martial Arts Center
of Melrose, Ma. He has studied wushu for
more than 25 years in both the United States
and China, and has been a gold medalist at numerous national and international competitions. He now judges at many of the most prestigious Chinese martial arts tournaments in this country. A top student of master Bow Sim Mark, Wong is fluent in both internal and external styles of wushu. In addition, he has trained contemporary wushu with sifu Nick Gracenin, traditional shaolin and shuai chiao with sifu Peter Chema and Oyama karate with sensei Ed Frazier.
Wong has taught martial arts extensively throughout the Boston area for many years, including at both Boston & Harvard Universities.
He is currently the coach of the
Harvard Wushu Club.
Wong is a senior physical therapist at
Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital
in Medford, and has lectured on therapeutic uses of taichi at Boston's Childrens Hospital, Lasell College in Newton, MA and other community venues.
